Hot Springs, AR (SportsNetwork.com) – Oaklawn Park’s $300,000 Southwest Stakes has been reset for Sunday after being postponed Monday because of bad weather.

Post positions for the Southwest will be drawn Thursday morning. Originally 12 3-year-olds were entered for the President’s Day running, but several runners are now entered for Saturday’s Risen Star Stakes at Fair Grounds.

Expected for the Southwest are Smarty Jones Stakes winner Far Right, Private Prospect, Smarty Jones runner-up Bayerd, The Truth Or Else, Kantune, Phenomenal Phoenix, Majestico, Bold Conquest, Smarty Jones third-place horse Mr. Z and Bold Animaux. Original Southwest entrants War Story and J S Bach are entered in the $400,000 Risen Star Stakes in New Orleans.

“With another week, anybody who had run within the last 13 days, now they’re looking at 20 days,” Oaklawn racing secretary Pat Pope said. “It seems like another chapter in the horse’s life when you go another week.”

Pope said trainer Donnie Von Hemel is considering entering unbeaten gelding Hillbilly Royalty.
