Katy, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – Zeek Woodley netted 34 points on 14-of-17 shooting, and grabbed nine rebounds to lead his fourth-seeded Northwestern State Demons past the fifth-seeded McNeese State Cowboys, 96-89, in the second round of the Southland Conference Tournament Thursday at the Merrell Center.

Jalan West chipped in a double-double of 24 points and 12 assists, and added seven rebounds for Northwestern State (19-11), which advances to face top- seeded Stephen F. Austin Friday in the semifinal round. Ta’Jon Welcome contributed 14 points, and Sabri Thompson added 12 points off the bench in the win.

Kevin Hardy scored 15 points with nine rebounds to pace McNeese State (15-16), while Desharick Guidry notched a 20-point, 15-rebound double-double. Keelan Garrett also added 20 points for the Cowboys in the loss.

Northwestern State shot 56.3 percent in the contest, and connected on 14-of-30 from 3-point range. McNeese State outscored the Demons inside the paint, 50-32, in the loss.
