Southeast Missouri sets schedule for Matukewicz debut

Cape Girardeau, MO (SportsNetwork.com) – Southeast Missouri State will begin the Tom Matukewicz coaching era with a 12-game schedule this year, including six home games.

The schedule, announced Tuesday, kicks off with an Aug. 28 home opener at Houck Stadium against NAIA member Missouri Baptist.

Southeast Missouri also will host Southeastern Louisiana (Sept. 20) in non- conference action, and Tennessee State (Oct. 4, Homecoming), Eastern Illinois (Oct. 18), Austin Peay (Nov. 15) and Jacksonville State (Nov. 22) in Ohio Valley Conference games.

The Redhawks will play non-conference road games against the University of Kansas (Sept. 6) and Southern Illinois (Sept. 13). Within the OVC, they will travel to UT Martin (Sept. 27), Murray State (Oct. 11), Eastern Kentucky (Oct. 25) and Tennessee Tech (Nov. 8).

Matukewicz, hired Dec. 18, will try to turn around a team coming off three straight three-win seasons.
