Smoak activated from disabled list
Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) – The Seattle Mariners activated first baseman Justin Smoak from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday.
Smoak had been sidelined with an oblique injury he originally suffered in a May 25 contest with the Texas Rangers. He made a pinch-hitting appearance four days later, but then landed on the DL on June 2.
The 26-year-old is batting .240 with three homers, eight RBI and 25 walks over 46 games this season.
To make room on the roster, Seattle optioned infielder Alex Liddi to Triple-A Tacoma. Liddi had just one hit in 16 at-bats during his stint with the Mariners.
