Sarah McLachlan’s Going on Tour, and Bringing an Orchestra with Her!
Well, Sarah McLachlan’s not actually bringing the orchestra on tour with her, but she is going on a symphonized tour to promote her upcoming album. For those who aren’t familiar with the term, a symphonized tour is typically one in which an artist works with local symphonies and orchestras while on the road, giving a whole new sound to their already beautiful music. And with the type of records McLachlan puts out, an orchestra seems like the perfect backdrop.
Sarah will start the tour in her homeland of Canada with a performance in Toronto, Ontario on June 6, 2012. From there she’ll travel to different amphitheaters, pavilions, and symphony centers around the United States, ending in Atlantic City, New Jersey on July 8, 2012. In total, Sarah will perform 11 dates over a span of two weeks, a short run for sure, but still one that’s going to blow audiences away nonetheless.
And while talks of tour extensions are always heard whenever an artist announces a new tour, this time it might be for real as Sarah has an album out later this summer. She tweeted about it herself in February saying, “Great week of writing; excited for the new album late summer/early fall.” With this small tour brushing up just against that time, it seems very possible that Sarah could tack on several extra dates.
