Saints’ Vaccaro has broken ankle
Metairie, LA (SportsNetwork.com) – New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton announced Monday that rookie safety Kenny Vaccaro suffered a broken ankle in Sunday’s loss to the Panthers.
Vaccaro will have surgery on Tuesday, according to Payton.
After the Texas product got stuck in a pile, trainers immediately put an air cast on his left leg and he was carted off the field.
Vaccaro registered 79 tackles, one sack, a forced fumble and an interception in 14 games this season.
Veteran safety Roman Harper will assume the duties of Vaccaro.
The 10-5 Saints hold the final wild-card spot in the NFC.
