Royals place Chen on DL

Kansas City, MO (SportsNetwork.com) – The Kansas City Royals have placed pitcher Bruce Chen on the 15-day disabled list with a bulging disc in his lower back.

Chen’s next scheduled start was Saturday. In his place, the Royals will send pitcher Danny Duffy to the mound against the Tigers.

Chen is 1-2 with a 7.45 ERA in four starts this season. The move is retroactive to April 25.

To take Chen’s spot on the roster, the Royals recalled pitcher Aaron Brooks from Triple-A Omaha.
