Romo among NFC’s best for December
New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner and Arizona Cardinals special teamer Justin Bethel have been named the NFC’s Players of the Month for December.
The Offensive Player of the Month, Romo led the Cowboys to a 4-0 record in December as the team won the NFC East. He completed 74.8 percent of his passes for 987 yards with 12 touchdowns and one interception for a 133.7 passer rating, the highest December passer rating in NFL history (minimum 100 attempts).
Romo is the first Cowboys quarterback to go 4-0 as a starter in December since Pro Football Hall of Famer Troy Aikman in 1993.
Wagner, the Defensive Player of the Month, had a team-best 36 tackles, including one sack, and a pass defensed as the Seahawks posted a 4-0 record in December, winning the NFC West and earning home-field advantage.
Bethel led the NFC with eight special teams tackles during the month and had a forced fumble in December as the Cardinals finished the season 11-5 and clinched a playoff berth.
