Reds’ Francis to make season debut
Cincinnati, OH (SportsNetwork.com) – The Cincinnati Reds brought up journeyman Jeff Francis from Triple-A Louisville to start the second game of their doubleheader on Thursday against the San Diego Padres.
Francis is 4-3 with a 4.33 ERA in eight starts for Louisville this season. The lefty was 3-5 with a 6.27 ERA in 12 starts and 11 relief appearances for the Colorado Rockies last season.
Cincinnati optioned reliever Nick Christiani to Louisville and moved starter Matt Latos from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list to make room for Francis.
Christiani was 0-1 in 10 appearances with a 5.54 ERA for the Reds.
