Reds activate Broxton
St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) – The Cincinnati Reds activated pitcher Jonathan Broxton off the 15-day disabled list Tuesday.
Broxton was on the DL since before the season started with a forearm injury.
The right-hander is expected to assume the closer role for the Reds until Aroldis Chapman returns from his injury. Chapman was hit with a line drive in the face during a spring training game.
To make room for Broxton, the Reds placed pitcher Trevor Bell on the 15-day DL with right elbow inflammation.
