Red Sox activate Doubront from DL

Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – The Boston Red Sox have activated left- hander Felix Doubront from the 15-day disabled list.

Doubront, who was placed on the DL with a left shoulder strain on May 21, has gone 2-4 with a 5.12 ERA over nine starts this season. He will start Friday’s tilt against the Oakland Athletics.

To make room for Doubront on the active roster, Boston optioned third baseman Garin Cecchini to Triple-A Pawtucket.
