Rays send Moore to DL
Kansas City, MO (SportsNetwork.com) – The Tampa Bay Rays placed pitcher Matt Moore on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, less than 24 hours after the 2013 All-Star exited a game against the Kansas City Royals with a sore left elbow.
Rays general manager Andrew Friedman told reporters Tuesday that results of an MRI taken on Moore’s elbow were inconclusive and the left-hander will visit noted surgeon Dr. James Andrews for a more thorough examination.
Moore left Monday’s 4-2 setback to the Royals with one out in the fifth inning, eventually receiving the loss despite having allowed just one run on four hits.
The 24-year-old amassed an outstanding 17-4 record with a 3.29 ERA in 27 starts for the Rays last season. Moore has lost both of his outings to begin 2014, permitting three runs and walking five batters over a combined 10 innings.
