Rangers’ Perez undergoes Tommy John surgery

Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – The Texas Rangers announced that pitcher Martin Perez underwent Tommy John surgery on Monday.

The surgery to repair the partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in Perez’s left elbow was performed by Rangers team physician Dr. Keith Meister.

Perez will begin rehab in the next few weeks and is expected to be sidelined at least a year.

The 23-year-old made eight starts for the Rangers this season, going 4-3 with a 4.38 ERA. He went 10-6 with a 3.62 ERA in 20 starts last year.
