Rangers call up P Baker, option OF Robertson
Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – The Texas Rangers purchased the contract of right-hander Scott Baker from Round Rock on Wednesday and optioned outfielder Daniel Robertson to the Triple-A club.
Baker was signed to a minor-league contract in March and has gone 4-1 with a 3.32 ERA in six starts for the Express.
After having Tommy John surgery in 2012, Baker returned in September 2013 to make three starts for the Cubs without a decision. Before that, he was 63-48 with a 4.15 ERA in seven seasons with the Twins.
Robertson, 28, batted .182 with a .250 on-base percentage in his first six MLB games this season for Texas.
Also Wednesday, the Rangers transferred left-hander Pedro Figueroa (Tommy John surgery) from the 15- to the 60-day disabled list to make room on the 40-man roster for Baker.
