Raiders pick up WR Thompkins on waivers

Alameda, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – The Oakland Raiders have been awarded wide receiver Kenbrell Thompkins on a waiver claim from the New England Patriots, the team announced Monday.

Thompkins caught 32 passes for 466 yards and four touchdowns over 12 games as an undrafted rookie with the Patriots last season, but was used sparingly over the early portion of the 2014 campaign prior to being placed on waivers on Saturday.

The 26-year-old appeared in just two of New England’s first four games and managed six receptions totaling 53 yards.

Thompkins joins an Oakland squad that was seeking some depth at wideout after being forced to place Rod Streater on injured reserve/designated to return last week due to a foot sprain that required surgery.
