Pirates’ Morton has hip surgery
Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) – Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Charlie Morton underwent surgery Friday to repair the labrum in his right hip.
The procedure was performed by Dr. Thomas Byrd in Nashville, Tennessee.
Morton, who was placed on the 60-day disabled list earlier this week, is facing a 6-to-8 month recovery period.
The right-hander was 6-12 with a 3.72 earned run average in 26 outings this season.
