Peter Gabriel released one of his most popular albums, So, originally in 1986. With huge hits on the record including Red Rain, Sledgehammer, and Big Time, it was Gabriel’s most successful albums and now, he’s re-releasing it as a special box set. And perhaps the best news for fans is that he’s also going on tour to promote it!

The tour comes at a perfect time, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the album; and it’s appropriately titled Back to Front. While the album wasn’t Gabriel’s first, it did come at the forefront of his career, and it was the one that really made him a household name. The first leg of the tour begins on September 16 in Quebec City, Quebec and from there Gabriel will travel to 13 different stops throughout Canada and the United States, wrapping on October 9 in Santa Barbara, California. You can find the current listing of all Peter Gabriel tour dates here.

Tickets go on sale in Canada today and those in the United States who are members of Gabriel’s fan club will be able to buy tickets as of May 31. Although there are only a few dates so far, Gabriel is sure to want to give as many fans as possible a chance to see him live and so, more dates are expected to be added.

Along with the live performances, Gabriel is also re-releasing the album as part of a special box set that will be called the So 25. ½ Special Edition. That will be available for sale in September 2012.
