Pens’ Malkin to sit Sunday
Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) – Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin missed Sunday’s game against Detroit because of a lower body injury.
Malkin was hurt during the first period of Saturday’s game against Boston. He returned later in the stanza, but didn’t play the final two periods of Pittsburgh’s 2-0 loss.
Penguins coach Mike Johnston said Sunday he doesn’t believe Malkin’s injury will be long-term.
Sidney Crosby, a late scratch Saturday because of a reported illness, was in the lineup Sunday.
