Pats make Revis signing official
Foxboro, MA (SportsNetwork.com) – The New England Patriots officially signed cornerback Darrelle Revis on Monday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Revis will reportedly get $12 million in 2014, and the team has a $20 million option for 2015.
The Patriots and Revis reached an agreement hours after he was released by Tampa Bay last week.
Revis, a five-time Pro Bowler long seen as one of the best corners in the NFL, was with the Buccaneers less than a year after being acquired from the New York Jets in a trade last April.
The Bucs saved $16 million in salary cap space by cutting Revis loose and the Patriots replaced a key piece in their secondary after shutdown corner Aqib Talib signed with Denver as a free agent.
Revis made a successful return from a torn ACL last season, starting all 16 games and registering 50 tackles and two interceptions.
