Patriots restructure Wilfork’s contract
(SportsNetwork.com) – Vince Wilfork will remain with the New England Patriots.
According to ESPN, the team has restructured the defensive tackle’s contract.
The new deal is reportedly for one year and $8 million, with $3 million guaranteed, and it includes an option for two more years.
A five-time Pro Bowler, Wilfork had requested to be released earlier this month after being approached by the team to take a pay cut, but the two parties were able to find common ground.
Wilfork, who suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in late September, was scheduled to earn $7.5 million in the final year of his contract and count $11.6 million against the salary cap in 2014.
The Patriots selected Wilfork in the first round of the 2004 NFL Draft.
