Panthers’ Williams uncertain for Sunday

Charlotte, NC (SportsNetwork.com) – Carolina Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams returned to practice on Friday, though it’s still unclear as to whether he will be available for this weekend’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Williams, Carolina’s all-time leading rusher, was a limited participant in Friday’s session after sitting out the previous two days with a thigh injury that also kept him out of last Sunday’s home opener against Detroit. The team has listed him as questionable to face the Steelers.

Two of the Panthers’ top three receivers are also questionable for Sunday’s tilt due to hamstring issues. Jerricho Cotchery, who was hurt during Thursday’s practice, did not participate on Friday, while Jason Avant did return to the field after missing Thursday’s workout.

Tight end Greg Olsen (calf), fullback Mike Tolbert (chest), wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin (knee), offensive tackles Byron Bell (toe) and Nate Chandler (toe) and linebacker Thomas Davis (hip) were among those players termed probable for Sunday’s contest.
