Pair of Stampeders highlight July’s best

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) – Calgary Stampeders kicker Rene Paredes and running back Jon Cornish highlighted half of the four players named the top CFL performers for the month of July.

Paredes took home special teams honors after opening the season a perfect 16- for-16 on field goals. In the process, Paredes broke Paul McCallum’s CFL record of 30 consecutive made field goals.

Cornish was named the top Canadian player after totaling 501 yards and three touchdowns on 77 carries. He also added 137 yards and one major on 14 receptions.

Saskatchewan’s Kory Sheets earned top offensive honors. The running back rushed for 712 yards on 118 carries and has scored four touchdowns.

Montreal linebacker Kyries Hebert was recognized as the best defensive player after compiling a league-best seven sacks.
