Pair of Eskimos headline Week 9’s top performers
Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) – Calgary’s Joe West, Edmonton’s Dexter McCoil and Eddie Steele and British Columbia’s Tim Brown were named the top players for Week 9 of the CFL season.
West earned the offensive award after catching four passes for a season-high 129 yards in Calgary’s road victory over Ottawa, 32-7.
McCoil took home the defensive honor after scoring a pair of touchdowns, intercepting two passes and adding five tackles in Edmonton’s 41-27 win over the visiting Argonauts.
Brown was a standout performer on special teams for the second straight week. He collected 277 combined return yards, including a punt return for a touchdown in the Lions’ 20-16 loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Steele was named the top Canadian player after recording a sack, a pass knockdown, a special teams tackle and six total tackles in the Eskimos’ 41-27 home win over Toronto.
