Padres, Smith agree on one-year deal
San Diego, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – The San Diego Padres and outfielder Seth Smith have agreed to terms on a one-year contract.
Financial terms of the deal, which was announced Tuesday, were not disclosed.
The Padres acquired Smith on Dec. 3 from the Oakland Athletics for reliever Luke Gregerson.
Smith, 31, batted .253 with eight home runs, 40 RBI, 27 doubles and a .329 on- base percentage in 117 games for the A’s last season. He played five seasons for Colorado and two for Oakland and has a career average of .265 with 73 homers, 273 RBI and a .342 on-base percentage.
