Padres sign Cuban hurler Despaigne

San Diego, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – The San Diego Padres have signed Cuban pitcher Odrisamer Despaigne to a minor league contract.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Despaigne played professionally for the Havana Industriales of Cuba’s Serie Nacional for eight seasons. The 27-year-old right-hander posted a record of 61-43 with a 3.55 ERA in 213 games.
