Padres’ Cashner has elbow irritation
San Diego, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – San Diego Padres pitcher Andrew Cashner was diagnosed with elbow soreness and irritation after undergoing an MRI on his ailing right elbow Monday.
Cashner was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday, retroactive to May 15, due to right elbow soreness.
“After performing an MRI today on Andrew’s right elbow, our doctors have indicated to me that he has elbow soreness and irritation,” Padres general manager Josh Byrnes said in a statement released Monday. “Based on our doctors’ recommendation we will be proceeding with rest and rehabilitation for his recovery.”
Cashner has struggled to a 2-5 record this season, despite giving up only 15 earned runs over 57 1/3 innings (2.35 ERA) in nine starts.
