Paddison wins by 1 in Australia
Melbourne, Australia (SportsNetwork.com) – Gareth Paddison birdied his final hole Sunday to win the Victorian PGA Championship by a stroke.
Paddison, who earned his fifth career win on the PGA Tour of Australasia, carded a 1-under 72 during his final round at finish the tournament at 16- under-par 272.
“The wind was so strong out there all day. It was very tricky. To be able to hold on to my lead and win by one shot was fantastic,” said Paddison.
Michael Hendry shot a 69 to end a shot off the pace at 15-under 273. while Jamie Arnold (71) took third place at minus-14.
Kurt Barnes (71) and Andrew Martin (66) shared fourth at 12-under.
Paddison maintained his overnight lead with three birdies and two bogeys over his first 16 holes before a bogey at the par-3 17th dropped him to 15-under and into a tie for the lead with Hendry.
But Paddison stuck his second shot at the 18th to three feet and converted that birdie effort to claim his second Victorian PGA Championship title.
