Pacquiao dominates Rios in 12-round UD
Macau, China (SportsNetwork.com) – Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao got back to winning form with a 12-round unanimous decision over Brandon “Bam Bam” Rios Sunday at Cotai Arena.
Pacquiao (55-5-2) won by scores of 120-108, 119-109 and 118-110 in the fight for the vacant WBO International welterweight title.
Rios (31-2-1), who was coming off a 12-round unanimous decision loss to Mike Alvarado, was never in the fight against his 34-year-old opponent. Pacquiao, who was beaten via a sixth-round KO by Juan Manuel Marquez last December, delivered punches that caused cuts over both of Rios’ eyes.
As part of the undercard, Russia’s Evgeny Gradovich (18-0) kept the IBF featherweight title when Australian Billy Dib (36-3) quit in the ninth round.
Dib was knocked down in round six and referee Alan Huggins stopped the bout 1:10 into round nine after Dib’s corner threw in the towel.
