O’s activate Jimenez
Baltimore, MD (SportsNetwork.com) – The Baltimore Orioles activated righty Ubaldo Jimenez from the 15-day disabled list to start Saturday’s home game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
To make room on the roster, Baltimore optioned pitcher Miguel Gonzalez to Triple-A Norfolk.
Jimenez had been on the disabled list with a sprained right ankle. The veteran starter last pitched in the majors on July 5.
Jimenez is just 3-8 in his first season with the Orioles. He has posted a 4.52 ERA with 88 strikeouts in 18 starts.
Gonzalez has made 20 appearances — 19 starts — for the O’s, accumulating a 6-6 record with a 3.80 ERA.
