Orioles activate Norris from DL
Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) – The Baltimore Orioles have activated pitcher Bud Norris off the 15-day disabled list.
Norris had been sidelined since late June because of a strained right groin. He entered Tuesday’s start against Washington with a record of 7-5 and a 3.62 ERA in 14 starts this season.
The Orioles designated pitcher Julio DePaula for assignment. The 31-year-old right-hander had his contract selected from Double-A Bowie on Monday, but did not pitch against the Nationals.
DePaula had surrendered just three hits with eight strikeouts over 6 1/3 scoreless innings at Bowie after signing with the Orioles in late June. He had been pitching for York of the independent Atlantic League.
