Oregon State survives with shutout of UC Irvine
Corvallis, OR (SportsNetwork.com) – Scott Schultz tossed a two-hit shutout and Oregon State kept its season alive with a 4-0 victory over UC Irvine in the NCAA regionals on Sunday night.
Top-seeded Oregon State extended its season with the win and will play No. 3 seed UC Irvine again on Monday with the winner advancing to the best-of-three super regionals.
Oregon State, which won back-to-back titles in 2006-07, beat No. 2 seed UNLV 6-1 earlier on Sunday to advance to play UC Irvine.
No. 4 seed North Dakota State lost its only two games and was already knocked out of the regional.
