Oladipo set to make season debut
Orlando, FL (SportsNetwork.com) – After two injuries cost Orlando Magic guard Victor Oladipo the preseason and the first nine games of the regular season, the second-year player is finally set to make his season debut Friday against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Oladipo first suffered an MCL sprain during a team scrimmage last month. Upon returning from that, he was accidentally elbowed in the face during a practice just days before the start of the regular season. The facial fracture required surgery, and he has been wearing a protective mask in practice.
Earlier reports in the week indicated Oladipo was not quite ready to return, but Orlando’s medical staff cleared him to play. He will not be in the starting lineup and is expected to play limited minutes off the bench.
In his rookie season, Oladipo was named to the NBA All-Rookie team, and he finished second in the Rookie of the Year voting to 76ers point guard Michael Carter-Williams. Oladipo won two Rookie of the Month awards as he averaged 13.8 points per game on 41.9-percent shooting.
