Oakland’s Griffin has Tommy John surgery
Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – The Oakland Athletics announced Wednesday that pitcher A.J. Griffin underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.
Griffin, who has not pitched this season, was placed on the 15-day disabled list at the end of spring training.
The right-hander posted a 14-10 record with a 3.83 ERA in 32 starts last season. He missed the 2013 American League Division Series due to elbow tendinitis.
Griffin has a 21-11 record with a 3.60 ERA in 47 career starts with Oakland.
