Nets’ Lopez out for opener
Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) – Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez will not play in Wednesday’s season opener against the Boston Celtics due to a sprained right foot he suffered during the preseason.
The oft-injured Lopez was stepped on by a player during the Nets’ game against Sacramento on Oct. 15, with the team expecting him to be sidelined between 10- to-14 days.
Lopez has endured problems with the same foot previously during his six-year NBA career. A fracture limited the 7-footer to just five games during the 2011-12 campaign and he broke the fifth metatarsal last December, ending his season after just 17 appearances.
