NCAA College Football Recap: Week 8
Kansas State maintains their reign as number one in the Big 12, while South Carolina needs to find a way to get back what they had earlier in the season. Meanwhile, LSU puts on another exciting performance while at Texas A&M this Saturday. All of that is in the recap of the best college football games this week.
(6) LSU 24, (18) Texas A&M 19
LSU has been extremely interesting to watch this year; and their season seemed to be summed up in Saturday’s showing against Texas A&M. The Tigers came out looking sluggish, and when they fell behind early in the game, it looked like A&M had them beat. But the Tigers then seemed to shake it off. Jeremy Hill rushed for 127 yards, a career high, and a touchdown; Michael Ford contributed his own TD; and so did Kadron Boone after deftly catching a pass from Zach Mettenberger. While the Tigers may still be a ways away from the championship team they were last year, they’re definitely starting to look more like it with each passing week.
(2) Florida 44, (7) South Carolina 11
Everyone went into this game wondering if the Gamecocks were going to fall apart once again after such a terrific start to their season; and they did. But what might be the bigger story here than even South Carolina’s slow demise is the fact that this was a rematch of revenge. The Gamecocks have beaten the Gators twice on their home turf in the past two years; and once was to take away the divisional title from Florida. No doubt that while all wins so far this season have felt good; this one was the sweetest yet at The Swamp.
(4) Kansas State 55, (13) West Virginia 14
Kansas State beat West Virginia in a game that was played so dominantly, most West Virginia fans had left by the third quarter. If you were there to watch Kansas State’s quarterback though, you got your money’s worth. Collin Klein threw for a career-high of 323 yards, ran for four scores, and scored three touchdowns. While his performance was spectacular, he truly made it look easy and seemed almost indifferent as he threw his last one in the final minutes.
