NCAA College Football Recap: Week 7

LSU was able to bring an end to South Carolina’s winning streak, while things went to OT at Notre Dame. Add in the fact that, thrilling finish aside, Louisiana Tech’s game most likely cost them the BSC, and it was a great weekend to watch college ball!

LSU 23, South Carolina 21
LSU is looking to move up dramatically in the rankings and this game on Saturday has helped them do it. Jeremy Hill had much to do with that, with two touchdowns and a total of 124 yards. It was one of those touchdowns that gave LSU a nine-point lead for the last five minutes of the game; something that was just too much for the Gamecocks.

Notre Dame 20, Stanford 13
This was a great game played by two teams that both have spectacular defense, but it all came down to the last seconds — and a very controversial play involving Stepfan Taylor. While the Fighting Irish were trying desperately to stop him, he crossed the goal line only to have it called no touchdown, and then reviewed. This one should have gone into a second OT, which would have fairly decided it. But we all know that sometimes, good teams lose good games due to refs.

Texas A&M 59, Louisiana Tech 57
On Saturday Louisiana Tech got national exposure like they never have before, but it wasn’t enough to spur them onto the win. Johnny Manziel made all the difference for the Aggies, making 24 of 40 passing attempts, throwing for 395 yards, and scoring six touchdowns. Louisiana Tech fought back hard, with Colby Cameron finishing with 449 yards and five touchdowns of his own, but it just wasn’t enough. Not only did they come out losers in this game, but it most likely cost them their BSC hopes, too.
