NCAA College Football Recap: Week 6

Wow. If anyone was disappointed by last week’s lineup, this week more than made up for it. South Carolina, Oregon, and Florida were all to prove that they were the real thing. And all three did. While Florida’s matchup wasn’t as bone-crushing as that of South Carolina or Oregon, all gave us reason to believe that we’ll see them in the fight for the BSC title this year.

South Carolina 35, Georgia 7
On paper, this one looked close before the game actually began. South Carolina sat just below Georgia in the standings, and they were battling with a sloppy offense and defense. But the Gamecocks used last week to polish up the finer points and came out fighting hard. Now not only will they sit above the Bulldogs in the rankings, but they’re also proving to be a real BSC title contender.

Oregon 52, Washington 21
This win was no surprise, but it gave us all a chance to watch why Oregon will be one of the teams to watch this year. With lightning-quick speed dominating all positions, and every aspect of this team pretty well stacked, the names to watch out for are running backs De’Anthony Thomas and Kenyon Barner.

Florida Gators 14, Louisiana State 6
LSU’s undefeated streak came to an abrupt end on Saturday as the Florida Gators squeaked out a win against them, continuing on with a streak of their own. Florida may not have taken the win in dominating fashion, but taking on a higher-ranked team and emerging victorious definitely also has people talking BSC title contention for the Gators this year. As for LSU, well after moving down in the rankings to number 9 from number 6, they may have a tough time against #3, South Carolina next week.
