NCAA College Football Recap: Week 13
The Fighting Irish maintain their perfect season and are on the way to a bowl game, while only one of those statements can be said for Ohio State. Meanwhile in Florida, the Gators prove who the greats of the state really are! With all that action, let’s dive right into this weekend’s college football recap!
(4) Florida 37, (10) Florida State 26
Florida State came back during the third quarter in this game to score 17 points. Unfortunately, by that time they had already made far too mistakes that put this game just out of their reach. The Gators kept Florida State to just 300 yards, their worst of the season; and E.J. Manuel had one of his worst games too, throwing three interceptions and getting sacked three times. On the side of the Gators, it was Mike Gillislee that was the hero, rushing for 37 yards at the very end, and getting the go-ahead TD.
Ohio State 26, (19) Michigan 21
Whenever this huge rivalry meets in the season it’s an exciting time; and Saturday’s game wasn’t any different. Against a seemingly better offensive team, it looked as though Ohio State was going to be devastated by the loss of tackle John Simon. But even without him, Ohio State was able to put the pressure on. They sacked Devin Gardner a total of four times, forced three fumbles, and held Michigan to just 60 total yards. Ohio State can walk away from this one secure in the knowledge that they’ve gotten their revenge against Michigan; and that they’re stil holding on to a perfect season. Unfortunately, pride is all they get as they’re still suspended, and still ineligible for the Big Ten Championship.
(1) Notre Dame 22, USC 13
For the second week in a row Notre Dame emerges as the biggest story in college football. Kyle Brindza kicked in five field goals, after plays in the red zone did not materialize for The Fighting Irish; and Everett Golson completed for 15 of 26 passes for 217 yards, and rushing 47 yards in the win against USC. It was enough to give them the win, and a ticket to the BCS National Championship game against either Alabama or Georgia.
