NCAA College Football Recap: Week 11

LSU continues its better half of the season while their old foe, Alabama, succumbs to a shocking upset against Texas A&M. Notre Dame in the meantime, showed how to do revenge right when they faced one of their toughest enemies in Boston College.

(15) Texas A&M 29, (1) Alabama 24
The Crimson Tide boasted about how their big win against LSU from a week ago was behind them, and they were focused on beating the Aggies and maintaining their perfect season. But if that was the case, they need to focus just a little bit more. It was Jonny Manziel’s three touchdowns during just the first quarter that put the Aggies ahead and gave them a 20-0 lead to start off with. And while AJ McCarron helped his team at least stay in the game, and nearly pulled them to a win with a late TD pass (that was, unfortunately for the Crimson Tide, blocked at the goal line by Deshazor Everett,) none of it was enough to help Alabama achieve their perfect season.

(7) LSU 37, (21) Mississippi State 17
The outcome of this game certainly was no upset, but it was a chance for LSU to keep their hopes alive for the Southeastern conference title. And it was also a chance for Tigers fans to watch their favorite quarterback, Zach Mettenberger, in action. In the end it looked like there was actually very little effort on the part of Mississippi State, but that was most likely due to the huge effort put in by Mettenberger. Throughout the game, the QB passed for a career-high of 298 yards, and completed 19 of 30 passes with no interceptions, to lead the Tigers to victory.

(4) Notre Dame 21, Boston College 6
There wasn’t much surprise, or much to watch, in this matchup between one of the country’s best teams, against one that isn’t even ranked. But for the Fighting Irish, it was about more than rankings, it was about sweet revenge; and they did it in fine fashion. Their offense was in complete control, while their defense also stepped up to the task, allowing Boston College to put only a meager six points on the scoreboard.
