NCAA College Football Preview: Week 8
The Gamecocks are looking for a win after last week’s defeat to LSU; while the Tigers want to capitalize on an opportunity to climb even further up in the rankings. Meanwhile in West Virginia, Kansas City is likely to take a win. All of that’s included in the best games of college ball this week.
(4) Kansas State at (13) West Virginia
This one’s going to be an easy one for Kansas State to take. West Virginia had an abysmal performance against Texas Tech last week, lowering their rank to 13 — and that was against an unranked team. Against Kansas State who sits at number 4, they just don’t stand a chance.
(6) LSU at (18) Texas A&M
At first glance, this one looks like LSU should easily take it. Despite having a lackluster start to their season, the Tigers were the ones to take away South Carolina’s undefeated streak last week; and they’re a higher-ranked team than their opponents in Texas A&M. But, this one’s going to come down to being a battle of the quarterbacks — Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel; and LSU’s Zach Mettenberger. And when you take that into consideration, Manziel should easily be able to take it. And perhaps even lead his team to victory.
(7) South Carolina at (2) Florida
If you’re wondering which is the game to watch this weekend, it’s this one. It will be a tough battle for teams on both sides. The Gamecocks are looking to come back from their loss to LSU last week, while the Gators have been unstoppable this season. It’ll be a scrap-out right to the very finish, and the winner will only need to win the SEC Championship Game in order to go on to the BCS National Championship Game. As an interesting side story — Gamecocks’ coach Steve Spurrier was a huge star in Florida when he played there between 1963 and 1966; and as a coach from 1990 — 2001.
