NCAA College Football Preview: Week 13

Another great weekend of college football is on the way! With many great state rivalries, it’s almost hard to choose which one to pay the most attention to. And of course, there’s still the big story line of The Fighting Irish, as fans wait anxiously to see if they can hang onto their number one spot. Without any further hesitation, let’s dive into the best of this week’s games.

(4) Florida Gators at (10) Florida State
This is one huge state rivalry! For the past ten years, each time these teams have met each other, they’ve each been big competition that’s ranked in the top 10. This game will be no different, but don’t buy into the rankings when predicting the win. E.J. Manuel has had a great year with the Seminoles, with only 6 interceptions, 21 passing touchdowns, and completing 68.8 per cent of his throws. Jeff Driskel on the other hand, doesn’t have the same experience, and he’s coming into this one with an injured ankle. This one could come down to a battle of the quarterbacks, and not a close one at that.

(5) Oregon at (15) Oregon State
This one could be another big upset when it comes to state rivalries. Oregon State is playing at home, and they have had some of the highest attendance numbers this year. Reser Stadium is louder than loud this year, and that’s going to be a bigger factor than usual on Saturday. Oregon State also has an incredibly solid defense, and they might be one of the only teams that can stop Oregon’s running game. So does Oregon have anything going for them? Well, they are the better team in the rankings; and they have won six out of the last 10 meetings. An upset is a big possibility but of course, never a certainty.

(1) Notre Dame at USC
Notre Dame was at rank 24 early in the season, and now they’re the top-ranked team in the country. Notre Dame also has a very good shot at the national title, and they’ve won their last 11 games. Clearly The Fighting Irish are the favorites here, but USC always has something going for them, too. Unfortunately this time, it’s only the fact that they’ve beaten Notre Dame 9 times in the last 10 tries. The fact that the Trojans are at home will help; USC’s going to need all the support they can get in this one.
