Nats place Harper on DL
Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) – Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday because of a sprained left thumb.
Harper was hurt during Friday’s game against the San Diego Padres while sliding head-first into third for a bases-loaded triple. He missed Saturday’s game.
In 22 games this season, Harper is hitting .289 with a homer and nine runs batted in.
The Nationals recalled outfielder Steven Souza Jr. from Triple-A Syracuse to fill the vacant roster spot.
