Brian Gibbons, Brandon Sutter and Sidney Crosby each scored third-period goals to back 27 saves from Marc-Andre Fleury as Pittsburgh dealt the skidding Anaheim Ducks a 3-1 loss at CONSOL Energy Center. Gibbons, making his NHL debut after being recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL on Monday, added an assist on Sutter’s marker that came just 62 seconds after the rookie snapped a scoreless tie. Evgeni Malkin delivered a pair of helpers for the Penguins, who had registered only eight goals in dropping four of their last five coming in. Ryan Getzlaf accounted for the lone Anaheim goal as the Ducks completed a rough East Coast four-game swing with an 0-3-1 record. Viktor Fasth stopped 24 shots in a losing cause.

Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) – Sean Monahan scored in the eighth round of the shootout as the Calgary Flames took a 5-4 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Monday. Mike Cammalleri and TJ Brodie posted a goal and an assist, while Lance Bouma and Jiri Hudler scored for the Flames, who snapped a six-game skid. Reto Berra posted 43 stops for the win. Dustin Byfuglien and Bryan Little had a goal and an assist with Olli Jokinen and Michael Frolik lighting the lamp for the Jets, who have dropped their past two. Al Montoya stopped 29 shots in the loss. Byfuglien had been stopped by Berra before Monahan flew in and buried a wrister for the winner on his first career shootout attempt.
