Little was positioned in the low slot, where he deflected Andrew Ladd’s backhander. The puck trickled through Colorado goaltender Semyon Varlamov and across the goal line with 25 seconds remaining. Ladd scored on a redirection in the first period for his 100th goal with the Jets/Thrashers franchise. Ondrej Pavelec made 22 saves as Winnipeg finished its homestand with a 2-3-0 record. Varlamov stopped 26 shots for the Avalanche, who fell to 0-3 in overtime this season.

Tanner Pearson added a pair of goals to help the defending Stanley Cup champion Kings finish off the first-ever 6-0-0 residency in franchise history. Dwight King also scored during a three-goal second period for Los Angeles that supported a 22-save effort from Jonathan Quick. Tim Erixson recorded his first career NHL goal for Columbus, which concluded a four-game road trip 1-3-0. Mark Letestu tallied as well in the loss, but Sergei Bobrovsky stopped just 22-of-27 shots in a rough day between the pipes. The Blue Jackets also were hit with a potentially serious injury to Nick Foligno in the third period. The veteran forward was taken off on a stretcher with 11:34 to play after being inadvertently checked into linesman Shane Heyer while chasing a puck alongside Carter near the benches. Foligno’s head collided with Heyer’s back and elbow as the linesman pulled himself up onto the boards in an attempt to avoid the play.

Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) – Scott Darling dazzled in his NHL debut to lead the Chicago Blackhawks to a 2-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Sunday. Darling, a native of Chicago suburb Lemont, Illinois, turned aside 32 shots to help the Blackhawks snap a two-game skid. Darling was recalled earlier in the week after starting goaltender Corey Crawford went down with an upper-body injury. Jonathan Toews and Brent Seabrook both scored for the Blackhawks in the win. Milan Michalek tallied Ottawa’s lone marker and Craig Anderson stopped 43-of-45 shots for the Senators, who were coming off a 3-2 overtime loss to New Jersey on Saturday.

Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Antti Niemi made 33 saves to back a well- balanced offensive effort as the San Jose Sharks halted the Anaheim Ducks’ winning streak at seven games with a 4-1 victory. Brent Burns, Joe Pavelski, Marc-Edouard Vlasic and Tommy Wingels all scored to help the Sharks end a four-game skid. Matt Belesky accounted for Anaheim’s lone goal and Frederik Andersen, who won his first six starts of the season, gave up four goals on 37 shots in the setback.

Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) – Henrik Sedin, Nick Bonino and Luca Sbisa scored during a 1:47 span in the second period and the Vancouver Canucks beat the Washington Capitals 4-2 on Sunday night. Ryan Miller made 20 saves and Radim Vrbata added an empty-net goal for the Canucks, who had dropped three of their last four games coming in. Marcus Johansson and Liam O’Brien netted goals for the Capitals, who had won four of six games coming in. Justin Peters stopped 30 shots in defeat.
