On the final attempt of the shootout, Kane skated down the middle and slowed up before picking his shot and burying a wrister past Tuukka Rask for the win. Marian Hossa and Brandon Bollig scored for the Blackhawks, who have won three of their last four. Corey Crawford stopped 34 shots in the win. Brad Marchand scored both goals for the Bruins, who have lost four of six. Rask made 35 stops in defeat. The last time these teams met was in the Stanley Cup Finals last spring, which saw Chicago win in six games for its second championship in four seasons.

Ondrej Palat had a goal and two assists while Teddy Purcell and Nikita Kucherov also scored for the Lightning, who had lost four of six coming in. Ben Bishop stopped a career-high 48 shots in the win. Eric Staal had a goal and an assist, with Alexander Semin and Ron Hainsey also scoring for the Hurricanes, who have lost three of four. Justin Peters was yanked from the start in the first period after giving up three goals on just seven shots. Anton Khudobin finished the game in net and made 15 stops.

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Rick Nash netted two goals and the New York Rangers notched a 4-1 win over the Washington Capitals on Sunday at Madison Square Garden. Derek Stepan and Ryan Callahan each scored once, while Henrik Lundqvist stopped 24 shots for the Rangers, who have won three straight and six of their last seven games Alex Ovechkin potted the lone goal for Washington, which has lost five straight for the first time since an 0-6-2 stretch from Dec. 2-18, 2010. Philipp Grubauer gave up three goals on eight shots before being removed late in the first period. Braden Holtby turned aside 17 shots in relief.
