Mutuel field favored for second Kentucky Derby Future Wager

Louisville, KY (SportsNetwork.com) – Pool 2 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager will take place beginning Friday, Feb. 6 through Sunday, Feb. 8.

There are 24 betting interests which include 23 individual 3-year-olds and the mutuel field of all others. The three-day Kentucky Derby Future Wager Pool 2 opens at noon Friday and concludes Sunday at 6 p.m.ET. The morning line is by Churchill Downs handicapper Mike Battaglia.

The mutuel field is the even-money morning line for the pool after closing as the 3-5 favorite in Pool 1 last November.

Eclipse Award winner American Pharoah is the 10-1 second pick and was 12-1 for the Pool 1. Dortmund, the 9-1 second choice in November, is 12-1 along with Holy Bull Stakes winner Upstart.

Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Texas Red is 15-1 in the morning line as is Juvenile runner-up Carpe Diem. Texas Red closed at 14-1 in Pool 1.

Pool 3 will be from Friday, Feb. 27 through Sunday, March 1 and Pool 4 will be Friday, March 27 through Sunday, March 29. The 141st Run for the Roses will go off on Saturday, May 2.
