Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) – The New York Mets will have outfielder Juan Lagares back in the lineup when the team begins a four-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates Thursday.

The Mets activated Lagares, who will bat sixth and play center field in Thursday’s matchup, from the 15-disabled list prior to the contest. Infielder Wilmer Flores was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas following Wednesday’s 8-5 loss to Oakland to create a spot on the active roster.

Lagares has been sidelined since June 1 by a strained right intercostal muscle. The 25-year-old just completed a rehab assignment with Double-A Binghamton, in which he went 2-for-8 with an RBI and two runs scored.

In 42 games this season, Lagares is batting .295 with two homers and 18 RBI.
