Mets take a chance on Colon
New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – The New York Mets have signed veteran starter Bartolo Colon.
The Post revealed on Wednesday the deal is worth $20 million over the next two years and is contingent upon the Dominican hurler passing a physical.
The corpulent 40-year-old right-hander finished the 2013 campaign with an 18-6 record and 2.65 earned run average in 190 1/3 innings over 30 starts for the AL West champion Oakland Athletics — earning him an All-Star nod for the first time since 2005.
Colon entered the league in 1997 with the Cleveland Indians, and has put together a 189-128 mark and 3.94 ERA in 411 appearances, all but six as a starter.
