Mets shut down Wheeler for season
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) – The New York Mets announced that pitcher Zack Wheeler will be shut down for the remainder of the 2013 season.
Wheeler, whom the club said is healthy, finished with a 7-5 record and 3.42 earned run average over 17 starts during his rookie campaign. The 23-year-old right-hander made his major-league debut on June 18
Aaron Harang has been tabbed to take Wheeler’s spot on Monday, when the Mets take on the Cincinnati Reds.
