Marlins ink suspended IF Tejada to minor league deal
Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) – The Miami Marlins signed veteran infielder Miguel Tejada to a minor league contract on Monday.
The soon-to-be 40-year-old Tejada is currently serving a 105-game suspension he began last year for testing positive for amphetamines.
Tejada played in 53 games with Kansas City last year before drawing the ban.
A six-time All-Star, Tejada was the American League MVP with the Oakland Athletics in 2002.
The Marlins also released reliever Carlos Marmol. He had been designated for assignment on May 11 after going 0-3 with an 8.10 ERA in 15 appearances this season.
